German culture values truth! German culture may value hard work and many things, but it SURE AS HELL DOES NOT VALUE TRUTH!

Germany imprisons people who even question the Holocaust! Come on Mr. Adask.

There is one culture that values truth, and it actually values truth enough to know that material possession are not an accurate qualitative value of the worth of a man! But you never heard of that culture have you? Pity!

I am not suggesting that any nation’s culture is an absolute devotee of truth. But there are degrees. Surely, some people in China value truth and some in Germany value lies. But, insofar as a national “culture” can be construed as an “average”of the multitude of values held by individual members of that nation, we can say that some national culture’s have a higher (not absolute; higher) respect for truth than others. With regard to things economic and technological required to maintain a productive economy, the German culture appears to have a higher regard for truth than that of China or even Greece. As a result, I contend that German culture is likely to prosper while that of China (embracing lies to maintain harmony) is likely to falter.

Germany’s position on the Holocaust may or may not be true but, by itself, that position does not have a direct impact on the German economy. All lies are dangerous and self-destructive, but a few lies are not as bad as a plethora of lies. German lies are relatively rare; Chines lies are relatively common. I believe that you can’t indefinitely sustain an economy based on lies. I conclude that China, being prone to lies, is likely to see its economy implode.

I do know something about Asian culture. Gaining and losing face means everything. Lying is common in most all Asian culture to keep from losing face.

I did not interpret you as saying any nations culture is an absolute devotee of truth. I agree. I am aware of one particular culture whose cultural foundation is an absolute devotion to truth, whose entire cultural practices 24/7 are devoted to the discovery of truth. I agree you are not referring to that particular culture, but to nations who have different degrees of commitment or not to truth.

Now, regarding your terms ‘economic’, ‘technological’ and ‘productive economy’.

These are abstract terms, and I think it may be helpful if you first clarify your meaning of these terms, since I am not sure your meaning and mine, or maybe many Chinese may be the same as yours.

You think Germany’s position regarding the Holocaust does not have an impact on the German economy. Namely millions of Germans who are terrorized to believe what could be lies about their history, upon the pain of being imprisoned, should they question the truth about their Nazi and Holocaust past (which was a result of ECONOMIC FACTORS! Hitler came to power thanks to an economy in inflationary tatters, calling for lebensraum for Germans).

I agree that much of the Chinese culture is founded on lies and saving face. No disagreement. I do think China however are honest about how they lie to each other to save face and maintain harmony; while Germany lies to themselves about how they are interested in truth; when in fact they legislate laws demanding that all Germans lie to each other about their historical past, so as to save face about what may or may not have happened, and to maintain harmony.

If we consider the Chinese perspective towards birth control, and we are totally impartial in the matter, we may concluce China has a commitment towards truth: to confronting the reality about overpopulation colliding with scarce resources and to confront the problem to attempt to reduce their birth rate.

If we consider the issue of peak oil, we may consider the German military confronting the issue to be a commitment to truth, except that their politicians, like the rest of the worlds politicians have hteir heads stuck in the sand.

I imagine your bias towards Germans being more similar to you (racially and perhaps in terms of your values towards materialism and religion) don’t allow you to evaluate the issue from a total impartial perspective. If true, you are lying to yourself, to save face, about how your subconscious bias leads your cognition around like like a red flag to a bull.

In my culture: Radical Honesty, our total cultural foundation is towards learning to first recognize the truth; namely how we lie to oursevles in our thinking and decision-making. Radical Honesty focusses on teaching ourselves the ability to learn to get over our anger on any issue, and – if possible – only once we are totally neutral on any issue to make decisions about it. Once you confront and learn how your conscious and subconscious anger affects the way you see the world, you realize how much of what you previously thought was ‘truth’ was seen through a particular lense, but was not essential clear truth. It was ‘purple’ truth, as seen through a purple lense. When you learn to practice telling the truth, the whole truth and nothign but hte truth, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, even if you lose fake friends, even if you are sent to jail, even if you lose dozens of jobs, then you start to teach your mind to be less political correct about when it is deceiving itself about whether the thoughts streaming through your consciousness is evaluated for its scientific factual authenticity, or just sounds nice from a particular ideological perspective.

I have no inherent preference towards whether your argument of Chinese vs. Germans is accurate or not, my preference is towards an honest conversation to find out the truth, if you are correct or not; is not the issue. For most people ‘being right’ is the issue, the truth is only relevant, if the individual is ‘right’. So, that is my focus: a sincere honest conversation, on any issue that I converse upon.

I believe that all lies are self-destructive. And I have reason to know that’s true. Thus, I don’t believe that any lie about the Holocaust is conducive to prosperity, health or longevity.

But I recognize that some lies have a relatively remote impact on an economy while other lies can have a more direct impact. Lies about the Holocaust are less likely to impair German productivity than a national tendency in China to lie to maintain harmony.

As for you comments on the difference between a dedication to truth and a dedication to defending one’s ego, I couldn’t agree more. Those who are dedicated to truth are almost impossible to defeat in argument. However, the vast majority who are dedicated to defending their own egos are weak, lame and easily defeated (unless they start punching or shooting).

I would agree with your belief that all lies are self-destructive; although I would not hold it as an absolute belief, but as a working hypothesis.

I would again agree that any lies about the Holocaust, whatever they may be are not conducive to mental health, prosperity or longevity.

I imagine though, that your definition of mental health, and most certainly prosperity and longevity are not the same as mine. I consider Russia’s Joan of Arc to have led a life of far greater prosperity and longevity, who died at the age of 32, than I would say 99% of Americans or most Westeners who live to the age of 80+. She lived a full life, lived every single day standing on her feet, refusing to live on her knees; while most of America live their entire lives on their physical (debt), emotional and psychological knees: walking corpses who possess allot of shit, only to impress people they don’t like.

So, this brings me back to your definition of an economy: how do you define ‘economy’? In the absence of knowing your definition, you are talking apples, and I am talking pears. Your ‘direct impact’ on apples, may not direct impact my pears! Do you get my point? ;-)

You may be entirely correct depending on your definitions of ‘economy’ and ‘technology’ and ‘productive economy’ that German Holocaust lies are less likely to impair GErman productivity, than Chinese lies may affect the Chinese productivity.

Are you willing to agree that different defintions of ‘economy’ and ‘productive economy’ may have different conclusions?

Winning or losing is not important to me in an argument; finding the truth is. If the truth is that I am in error, then if I consider the issue in terms of winning; I have won, by finding out that I was in error, and I am now able to closer to reality, than previously. I highly value individuals who are able to provide me with information to enable me to amend my working hypothesis to make them stronger and closer to reality.

Your rationalisations may deceive you, they do not deceive me.

I spent many years working with people suffering from addictions. Addiction to ideology is no different to an addiction to alcohol, drugs, crime etc.

There are two types of addicts: those who cry about their problem, but are not sincere in wanting to solve their problem; and those who are sincere, just have not figured out the root cause of their problem.

You cannot help the former, because they are insincere. Their diatribe is just attention seeking victimhood addiction on top of their other addiction. The latter can be helped, but not using conventional kiss-ass psychology. Only if doused with a bucket of cold reality, are these sincere truth seekers able to confront how they have allowed their minds to be hijacked by inaccurate meme's, because they lack the intellectual backbone to confront reality, in all its naked raw brutality. They prefer the delusion and fantasy.

I thought you were one of the latter; a sincere truth seeker, who simply needed a bucket of cold ice, to snap out of your ideological addiction to fantasy and delusion, to help you to focus your intellectual backbone on search for truth, wherever it may lead you.
